Six years building the practice she wished existed.
Shelby Moreno, PT, DPT, is one of fewer than 4,500 physical therapists in the United States board-certified specialist in geriatric physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She has six years of inpatient experience treating neurological, musculoskeletal, and co-morbid conditions. She is a Texas Panhandle native and now calls Lubbock home.
She founded Dovetail PT & Wellness because she kept watching the same pattern: patients discharged too early, frequency capped by coverage limits, and real progress stalled by a system that was never designed to optimize outcomes. Dovetail is the alternative she couldn't find anywhere else in Lubbock.

Why dovetail?
I chose the name Dovetail as a tribute to my grandfather, who has been a carpenter for most of his life and has remained independent into his nineties.
Growing up, I watched him build with intention and care—creating things designed to last. The dovetail joint, one of the strongest and most precise techniques in woodworking, symbolizes that same idea: strength, stability, and the perfect fit.
That philosophy is at the heart of this clinic. Just like a dovetail joint, I believe in creating care that is thoughtfully designed, highly individualized, and built to support long-term independence. Naming this practice Dovetail is my way of honoring him and the values he lives by every day.
Do you take insurance?
No, and that's an intentional decision I made. Out-of-network practice removes the coverage-driven restrictions that dictate session length, visit frequency, and treatment selection in most clinics. Superbills are provided so you can pursue reimbursement through your insurer independently.

Beginning May 1, 2026, Shelby sees clients at Premiere Sportsplex, located at 9000 Memphis Dr, Lubbock, TX 79423. Her office includes a dedicated treatment space with access to a full gym and sports courts as part of rehabilitation. In-home and workplace sessions are available for select clients.
